Two Scandinavian movies have received awards at the 10th Tribeca film festival (a festival co-founded by Robert de Niro).

On Friday April 28th, New York Times reported that the award for best screenplay went to Norwegian Jannicke Systad Jacobsen:

The award for best screenplay went to Jannicke Systad Jabobsen for “Turn Me On, Goddammit,” a Norwegian film about a small-town teenager with an active sexual imagination.

The top award, for narrative feature, went to another Scandinavian movie, Swedish Lisa Aschan’s “She Monkeys.” This is a  Swedish-language coming-of-age film which centers on a complicated relationship between two teenage girls competing under intense pressure in the equestrian world.

The Founders Award for best narrative feature went to “She Monkeys,” directed by Lisa Aschan, which looks at the friendship between two girls on an equestrian acrobatics team.

This is very encouraging for the Scandinavian movie industry. I am looking forward to seeing these two movies!
